What happens when your agency faces a staggering loss? 

For Jen Wright, founder of Rascal Ventures, the answer was a combination of a few key things: resilience, reinvention, and a clear-eyed strategy to turn things around. 

Just 12 months later, Jen’s agency is on track for  ÂŁ1.5m+ in revenue – a huge turnaround, and one she’s aiming to double come next year.

“A year ago, this kind of loss would’ve broken us,” says Jen. “Now we have the knowledge, resilience, and reserves to take on challenges that come our way.”

  • Facing the reality of actually making a loss. Jen will share how she tackled this head on, and how it forced her to make some tough decisions to start anew.
  • Rebuilding from the ground up. Jen scaled her team back from ten to just 2, and had to redefine her agency’s model, niche and approach to new biz. “It was heartbreaking to scale back,” Jen says. “But it was the only way to survive and reset for growth. We also  doubled down on high-value work. Saying no to projects outside our niche was a game-changer.”
  • Why transparency matters in tough times. “We made every decision as a team. Transparency was key to keeping morale and focus in such a tough transition,” Jen explains. “I shared everything with my team, from costs to profit margins. It built trust and alignment.”
  • The role of a growth advisor – and how through working with one, the accountability and support has made all the difference. “Having someone believe in me when I didn’t was transformative,” Jen says. “It helped me focus and stay on track.”

A big thing for Jen to realise was that the agency’s portfolio was too broad, and as a result, they were spreading themselves far too thin.

“You can’t do everything. Find your strengths and lean into them,” she advises. “It’s not about chasing every opportunity — that’s how you run yourself into the ground,” says Jen. “We focused on what we’re best at, and it’s paying off.”
